Under the leadership of V.V. Kornilov, new laboratories were created in a new building on L. Tolstoy Street, the working conditions of the military department and library were improved, the first graduation of full-time engineers and the first graduation of the full-time department of the radio engineering faculty took place, the 1st and 2nd buildings of the hostel were built, the faculty of light industry.

V.A. Andreev was one of the organizers of the department "Power supply of industrial enterprises and cities." Many teachers of the department are his students. In 1972, a laboratory of computer technology was created on the basis of two computers. Vasily Andreevich continued to strengthen the material and technical base: in 1975, an educational and laboratory building was put into operation in Dimitrovgrad, and the construction of the main educational building in the northern part of Ulyanovsk began.

O.V. Kazarov paid much attention to the construction of the institute: under his leadership, the educational building No. 4 was built, the educational building No. 5 and two stages of the main educational building were put into operation. Also, during his work, the Department of Architecture was created, broadcasts of the laboratory of educational television began, an evening technical faculty was opened on the basis of the Ulyanovsk Aviation Industrial Complex, the Faculty of Aircraft Engineering was formed, an information and computer center was created, the composition of which was increased to 38 computers. Vladislav Mikhailovich did a great job of organizing the educational process, in particular the new training courses "Life Safety" and "Ecology", to ensure their methodological and material base. Under his leadership, postgraduate studies were opened at the department, scientific work was launched on state budget and economic contract topics. He was the head of a comprehensive program of work of the university with the municipal enterprise "Ulyanovskvodokanal", prepared a regional program for improving the environment and energy saving, approved by the Ministry of Science of the Russian Federation. Alexander Dmitrievich paid great attention to strengthening the material and technical base of the university, its financial situation in very difficult economic conditions: in the face of a constant reduction in budget funding. During this period, the university begins to intensively increase the volume of extrabudgetary activities and, first of all, the volume of educational services. This allowed the construction of the university to continue. In 2005, a unique complex of outdoor sports facilities was built on the campus. Funds appeared for the overhaul and maintenance of the dispensary and sports camp. In an opportunity to continue to improve the educational process: update the laboratory base, introduce new technologies, complete the library with the necessary educational and scientific literature. Under the leadership of A. D. Gorbokonenko, Ulyanovsk State Technical University became one of the leading universities in the Volga region.

Under the leadership of Alexander Petrovich, a lot of work has been done to transform and develop the university. In 2015, the Tarelka cinema and concert hall was reconstructed and renovated, which received the status of the Regional Center for Science, Technology and Culture; subsequently he was named after the Vice-Rector for Youth Affairs of UlSTU T.L. Stenina. Since September 2017, UlSTU has been training wind power engineers at the first profile department in Russia “Wind power systems and complexes”. In 2018, at UlSTU with the support of the Governor of the Ulyanovsk region S.I. The project "Higher Engineering School" is being successfully implemented; its goal is to create an ecosystem within the university that forms engineers capable of designing and operating complex technical systems for aircraft engineering, mechanical engineering, transport and energy in the context of digital transformation of production. Joint work is carried out with partners: more than 100 cooperation agreements have been concluded; laboratories with modern equipment are opened at various faculties.

During the performance of Nadezhda Glebovna's duties as rector, Ulyanovsk State Technical University joined the consortium of the scientific and educational center "Engineering of the Future". Also, on the initiative of Nadezhda Glebovna, UlSTU takes an active part in the formation of the program of activities of the world-class scientific and educational center for the alternative energy industry (REC) of the Ulyanovsk region. The megaproject "Smart Campus and Digital University Ecosystem" (2020-2022) has been developed and is being successfully implemented.
