Ulyanovsk State Technical University manufactures parts for enterprises of Volga Federal District

The regional technological center of industrial internet in mechanical engineering, based at Ulyanovsk State Technical University, produces real parts for enterprises in Ulyanovsk region and neighboring regions.

The Industrial Internet Centre in Mechanical Engineering at Ulyanovsk State Technical University is developing new areas of research and educational activities that contribute to meeting the needs of machine-building enterprises of Ulyanovsk Region and Volga Federal District. The center is retraining specialists of enterprises to work on technological equipment with the issuance of document of state standard.

"Usually, technological equipment is rarely used in universities. But our regional center combines educational and production processes.  Last year we produced parts for the machine tool, cartridge, and aircraft manufacturing plants, as well as for the instrument-making enterprises of Ulyanovsk, Cheboksary, and Samara. We make stamps, molds, housings, covers, instrument panels" - director of the regional technological Industrial Internet centre in Mechanical Engineering, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Evgeny Kiselyov noted.

In addition, UlSTU is developing an infrastructure for studying in a specialized training laboratory of the Ulyanovsk Mechanical Plant. Recently, the laboratory has been replenished with new bench equipment of domestic production, where students will be able to study the propagation of electromagnetic waves in microwave devices.

"This equipment is designed for work related to the measurement and analysis of the characteristics of microwave devices. The main elements of the stand are a meter of complex transmission and reflection coefficients and a waveguide ruler. A microwave signal is fed into the main waveguide of the ruler, and a large number of waveguide taps of the ruler allow to create the required amplitude distribution of the electromagnetic wave along the main waveguide. Other microwave devices can also be connected to the stand analyzer, the characteristics of which need to be measured. The meter is controlled by the domestic software installed on a personal computer" - Head of the Department of Project Activities and Prospective Development, PhD of Physical and Mathematical Sciences Andrew Klimovsky noted.
