1,183 universities from 84 countries participated in the UI GreenMetric 2023 ranking. UlSTU became the only university in the Ulyanovsk region included in the rating. Among Russian universities, UlSTU entered the top 30 strongest universities. In the global list, UlSTU got into the first 750 universities in the ranking.
Ulyanovsk State Technical University has demonstrated steady growth in indicators. The overall assessment of UlSTU, compared with the indicators of the 2022 rating, increased by 300 points. UlSTU scored the highest number of points in the groups of indicators "Education and Research", "Settings and Infrastructure" and "Energy and Climate Change".

The University of Indonesia (UI) initiated the World University Ranking in 2010, which later became known as UI GreenMetric (UI GreenMetric World University Rankings). Its purpose is to quantify efforts to maintain the sustainability (environmental friendliness) of campuses. The creators of the rating seek to draw the attention of the academic community to the need for a policy of sustainable environmental development in order to solve environmental problems.
